The Kenyasi No. 1 Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region has urged drivers to avoid reckless driving during the Christmas festivities to help prevent road accidents.
Speaking on behalf of the chiefs at a thanksgiving service organised by the traditional council, pastors, and residents, the Apersemakahene, Nana Yeboah Asuamah, told Adom News that the festive season often sees increased disregard for road safety regulations.
He cited over-speeding, wrongful overtaking, and driving under the influence of alcohol as major causes of accidents during this period.
Nana Yeboah Asuamah particularly appealed to commercial drivers operating on routes such as Kenyasi–Kumasi, Kenyasi–Hwidiem, Kenyasi–Sunyani, and Kenyasi–Ntotroso to ensure their vehicles are roadworthy and that passengers are transported safely.

He said the traditional council, led by Nana Osei Kofi Abiri, expects an accident-free Christmas on roads within the area and warned drivers to take the appeal seriously.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Kenyasi Ministers Association, Pastor Agyenim Boateng Augustine, called on the Ghana Police Service in the area to intensify patrols and enforce road safety regulations.
He also expressed concern over the rising number of accidents involving motorcycle riders, noting that many fail to comply with traffic laws, and urged the police to take firm action to prevent avoidable crashes during the festive season.
