Flagbearer aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has expressed confidence that he can unite the party if he wins the presidential primary, despite the tensions and heated exchanges that have marked the campaign.
Mr. Agyapong made the remarks to the media in Assin Central shortly before casting his vote.
He acknowledged that internal party contests are often fiercely competitive and can generate disagreements, but emphasized that such moments should not undermine party cohesion.
“Robust political competition can sometimes involve harsh language, but that is part of the democratic process and should not create lasting divisions,” he said.
“I don’t see it as a problem. At the end of the day, we will all come together as one party. In any contest, things can get tough and certain words may be used that are not pleasant, but that does not mean anyone should walk away. If I am declared the winner, I believe I will be able to bring everyone together.”
Mr. Agyapong stressed that unity will be crucial for the NPP’s success after the primaries, noting that all aspirants must work collectively to strengthen the party and prepare for future electoral battles.
