Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has urged supporters and players to remain calm despite the club’s recent dip in form.

The Tarkwa-based side has managed only three points from a possible 12 in their last four matches, a run that has seen their once comfortable lead at the top of the table drastically reduced.

Medeama’s advantage has shrunk from nine points to just one after three consecutive draws against Swedru All Blacks, FC Samartex 1996 and Aduana FC, before suffering a 2–1 defeat to Nations FC.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Bibiani Gold Stars have taken advantage of Medeama’s struggles, winning their last four matches to climb to second place with 45 points, just one behind Medeama’s tally of 46.

Despite the tightening title race, Tanko insists there is no reason for alarm as the season enters its final stretch.

“It’s disturbing, but we don’t have to press any panic button. We still have 10 games, five home, five away and definitely all of us have very tough matches, and Bibiani will come to us, we will also go to [play] Accra Hearts of Oak,” he told the club’s media.

He added that their closest challengers will still have to travel to Tarkwa, while Medeama will also face key away fixtures, including a clash with Accra Hearts of Oak.

“We have to concentrate on the last 10 games and then try to win our matches, especially starting on Sunday against Hohoe,” Tanko added.

Medeama will host Hohoe United at their home ground in Tarkwa on Sunday, March 8, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00 GMT.
