Hearts of Oak defender Kelvin Osei Asibey has hailed his side’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over FC Samartex as a crucial result for both the team and their fans.

The Phobians secured the win on Friday at the University of Ghana Stadium thanks to a first-half strike from Hamza Issah, overcoming a subdued performance to claim all three points.

“It was important to us, the players and also to our supporters, because our game against Aduana we were supposed to win that game, but we couldn’t win the game, so coming into this game, we have to do something to make our supporters happy,” Osei Asibey said after the game.

The 25-year-old defender has made 13 appearances for the record FA Cup winners this season, yet he is still searching for his first goal, with one match remaining before the season’s first half concludes.

Hearts of Oak will wrap up the opening half of the campaign with a challenging away fixture against title contenders Medeama SC on Sunday, January 4, at the TNA Park.
