
The Ministry of the Interior has declared Monday, September 22, 2025, a statutory public holiday to mark Founder’s Day.
A statement signed by the Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, explained that this year’s celebration, which falls on Sunday, September 21, has been shifted to Monday in accordance with the law.
The statement added that President John Dramani Mahama, acting under Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601), as amended, has signed an Executive Instrument formalising the additional holiday.
Founder’s Day is set aside to remember and honour Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Ghanaians have been encouraged to observe the day in honour of the country’s founding fathers.
