The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has commissioned the Upper West Regional Police Headquarters in Wa, calling for closer collaboration between the police and the public to strengthen law and order in the region.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing the Ghana Police Service through continued investment in logistics, mobility, communication equipment, and infrastructure. He also stressed the importance of accountability, urging officers to manage state resources efficiently and responsibly.
Mr Muntaka called on chiefs, traditional authorities, and community members to actively support the police, noting that maintaining security is a shared responsibility. He emphasised the value of community intelligence, effective conflict resolution, and proper guidance of the youth in sustaining peace and stability.
Commending officers in the region for their dedication and bravery, the Minister encouraged the public to respect and support the police, noting that a service that enjoys public trust is better positioned to perform effectively.
The Upper West Regional Minister, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, highlighted the link between peace and economic growth, stressing that a secure environment is essential for business development. He also urged officers to maintain the new facility and ensure it is used for its intended purpose.
The new Regional Police Headquarters is expected to improve rapid response to crime, enhance coordination among security agencies, and bring policing closer to residents, marking a major boost to security infrastructure in the Upper West Region.
