Media personality Afua Asantewaa has clarified her marital status, stating that she is not divorced but currently separated from her husband after nine years of marriage.
Addressing long-standing speculation about her relationship, she explained that the decision to step away was not sudden but the result of challenges that had built up over time.
She described the separation as necessary, framing it as a period of reflection and personal growth rather than the end of her journey.
Contrary to rumours that she is the cause of the split, Afua noted that public perception often misrepresents relationship dynamics, particularly when one partner is more vocal than the other. She indicated that being outspoken sometimes led to her being unfairly blamed, while her partner was perceived as the victim.
She also stressed that sustaining a relationship requires consistent effort, pointing out that love does not thrive on its own without care and attention.
“Love is supposed to be fed; the flame will not always be blazing. I could fake it and use his picture and everything, and nobody would know there is trouble in paradise. Before a woman will carry her luggage and leave her home, it has been long overdue,” she said.
Despite previously projecting a stable image publicly, she acknowledged that appearances can be misleading, as many couples quietly navigate personal struggles.
Despite the separation, Afua maintained that there is mutual respect between her and her husband, describing him as her best friend and assuring that their children remain a top priority.
