The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seventeen police officers in recognition of their exceptional performance and dedication to duty.
The promotions were announced on January 27, 2026, highlighting the officers’ critical roles in high-profile operations across the country.
The officers were honoured for their contributions to several successful operations, including the seizure of ten wrapped slaps of substances suspected to be cocaine, with an estimated street value of GHC 1,032,650, along with other sacks of suspected narcotics in Ho, Volta Region.
In a separate operation in Jacobu, the team recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pump-action gun, and eight live AAA rounds of ammunition during a routine patrol, preventing potential threats to public safety.
Speaking during the promotion ceremony alongside members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), IGP Yohuno commended the officers for their discipline, courage, and professionalism, describing their actions as exemplary in upholding the core values of the Ghana Police Service.
“Your promotion is not only recognition of past achievements but also a call to higher responsibility. Let this inspire all personnel to continue working diligently. Excellence and integrity remain the basis for recognition within our Service,” IGP Yohuno said.
The Ghana Police Service continues to emphasise merit-based promotions, linking recognition to performance, operational success, and commitment to public safety.
The newly promoted officers are expected to use their elevated positions to mentor junior staff and maintain high standards in future operations.
This recognition reflects the Service’s broader commitment to combating crime, particularly narcotics trafficking and illegal firearms, while promoting a culture of professionalism and accountability among its personnel.
