The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has led a high-level security delegation to Sawla in the Savannah Region following recent clashes between the Gonja and Lobi communities over a land dispute.
He was accompanied by Major General F. W. K. Agbebo of the Ghana Armed Forces and the Savannah Regional Security Council, chaired by Regional Minister Salisu Be-Awurbe.
During the visit, the IGP assured the chiefs and residents of Sawla of the security agencies’ commitment to restoring calm and ensuring lasting peace in the district.
The Sawlawura, Abdulai Nungbaso, appealed for heightened security along the Black Volta, particularly in border communities such as Kalba, Sengeri, and Saru, which he said remain vulnerable to attacks.
Meanwhile, joint security teams have been deployed to assess affected communities as part of efforts to contain the violence and prevent further escalation.
