The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted 30 police officers for their exemplary performance in operations that led to the recovery of large quantities of ammunition and the dismantling of a robbery syndicate in the Ashanti Region.
The promotions, announced on January 5, 2026, follow successful operations at the Kantanso Asankare Police Barrier—where officers recovered 2,600 rounds of AK-47 ammunition—and along the Antoakrom–Manso Nkwanta stretch, where a planned robbery attack was foiled during the Christmas season.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the officers demonstrated professionalism, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to duty.
During the Kantanso Asankare operation, police discovered concealed containers holding ammunition in a bus, along with bulletproof plates and other suspicious items hidden under the driver’s seat.
In addition, 20 intelligence officers from the Ashanti and Ashanti South Regional Police Commands were promoted for their role in intelligence-led operations that resulted in the recovery of firearms, the disruption of armed robbery activities, and the prevention of attacks on commuters.
The IGP and the Police Management Board commended the officers for their courage and dedication, urging all personnel to uphold high standards of professionalism and assuring that hard work and commitment will continue to be recognised and rewarded.
