The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and surrounding communities in the North East Region following the burning of two houses by some youth in the regional capital.
The deployment comes amid threats of further attacks, including plans to burn more houses and assault residents in the area.
According to the Police, the move is aimed at restoring calm, protecting lives and property, and strengthening security in the affected communities.
The reinforcements will also help enforce the curfew imposed by the government on Nalerigu and its environs.
The additional personnel will work alongside the North East Regional Police Command to intensify security patrols, particularly on major highways, to ensure the safety of commuters and residents.
Meanwhile, the Police have assured the public, especially residents of Nalerigu, that investigations into the attacks and arson incidents are ongoing, adding that all persons involved will be arrested and prosecuted.
