I was confident we would beat Hearts of Oak – Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito

Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has expressed confidence in his side’s ability to overcome Hearts of Oak in Sunday’s Super Clash at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors secured a narrow 1-0 victory over their rivals, thanks to a first-half penalty converted by Guinean striker Morifing Donzo.

Speaking to Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show after the match, Zito said he had anticipated the win, drawing motivation from the team’s recent performances against Wydad Athletic Club.

“After the games against Wydad Athletic Club, I had a meeting with the players, and I told them that to be consistent, we need to win games and win trophies before we can go to Africa again,” Zito said.

“And so I knew we would win against Hearts of Oak, and I said that before the game,” he added.

The victory keeps Asante Kotoko unbeaten in the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League. They currently sit seventh on the table with 14 points, with three games in hand.

The Porcupine Warriors aim to extend their unbeaten run when they face Vision FC in a rescheduled fixture, before hosting league leaders Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium in Matchday 10.
