Helicopter crash: Children’s Support Fund receives over GH₵8 million and US$20,000

The Children’s Support Fund, created to support the welfare and education of children who lost their parents in the August 6, 2025, helicopter crash, has received a total of GHS 8,600,905.00 and US$20,000.00 in donations to date.

In a public update issued on Friday, October 17, Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, Senior Presidential Advisor on Governmental Affairs and Coordinator of the Fund, outlined contributions received between September 23 and October 12, 2025.

The latest donors include the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, BOST Energies, Bui Power Authority, Energy Commission, Ghana Cylinder Manufacturing Company Limited, along with various individuals and agencies under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

Notable individual contributors mentioned were Kow Eduakwa Sam, Israel Quarme Arye, Timothy Addai Adivilah Balagkutu, and Augustus Obuadum Tanoh.

Dr. Sawyerr expressed gratitude to all institutions and individuals who have supported the initiative and urged others to “contribute to the ongoing effort.”

According to the statement, “Cheques and bank drafts should be made payable to ‘Children Support Fund 6825,’” while mobile money contributions can also be made through the approved payment platforms attached to the release.

The Children’s Support Fund was established to provide financial and educational support for the dependents of victims of the August 6 helicopter crash, which claimed the lives of several public officials, including former Defence Minister Dr. Omane Boamah.
