Hearts of Oak were left frustrated on Friday night after being held to a goalless draw by newly promoted Hohoe United in the opening fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.
The Phobians, under new head coach Didi Dramani, fielded a strong line-up at the Accra Sports Stadium but struggled to break down Abdul Rahim Bashiru’s disciplined side.
Despite dominating possession in the first half, Hearts could not find a breakthrough as both sides went into the interval level.
The tempo increased after the restart, and while Hohoe United were reduced to 10 men in the 67th minute following Solomon Adomako’s red card, Hearts failed to make their numerical advantage count.
The debutants defended resolutely to secure a valuable point on their top-flight debut.
The result extends Hearts of Oak’s unwanted record of going seven straight seasons without a win on the opening day.
Dramani’s men will now turn their attention to next weekend’s away clash against Dreams FC, while Hohoe United will look to build on their momentum when they host Young Apostles.
