The Ministry of Health Ghana has announced plans to begin a nationwide recruitment exercise for health professionals starting April 16, 2026, following the approval of financial clearance.

In a statement signed by spokesperson Tony Goodman, the Ministry indicated that the process will be carried out in a decentralised manner at the district level, based on confirmed staffing needs.

According to the statement, the exercise will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner, with placements guided by an approved quota system covering different professional categories and year groups.

“The recruitment process would be decentralised and conducted at the district level based on verified vacancies,” the statement noted.

It added that all appointments will be made within approved budgetary limits to ensure fiscal discipline.

Qualified health professionals have been encouraged to keep track of updates from official Ministry platforms and district health directorates for details on vacancies and application procedures.

Applicants have also been advised to prepare their credentials and relevant documents ahead of the rollout.

The Ministry further indicated that the financial clearance for the exercise will remain in force until December 31, 2026, within which period all recruitment activities are expected to be completed.

“The exercise will be competitive and transparent, guided by an approved quota system across all cadres and year groups,” the statement added.

The Ministry urged eligible professionals to take advantage of the opportunity, describing the recruitment as part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery across the country.
