He is going nowhere; no one will harm him – Eric Adjei dismisses Abronye’s asylum request

Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, has dismissed claims by New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, alias Abronye, that his life is in danger.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Adjei described Abronye’s request for political asylum at several foreign embassies as a ploy to secure a visa.

“Abronnye is going nowhere. No one will do anything to him. It’s a matter of the law. What has happened that he is seeking asylum? Maybe he is looking for a visa and just using this means,” he said.

He added that lawsuits and legal action do not constitute intimidation and stressed that President John Mahama and his government remain committed to peace.

The remarks come after Abronye petitioned eight foreign missions, including those of the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, and Côte d’Ivoire, alleging threats to his life and political persecution.

His petition followed a police raid at the residence of former NPP Greater Accra Regional Youth Organiser, Moses Abor, who was being sought by authorities. Abronye has since been taken into custody by the Ghana Police Service.
