The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has given government a 48-hour ultimatum to arrest social media activist Ralph St. Williams and his accomplices following an assault on nurses at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge).
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the Association’s General Secretary, Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, described the incident as a blatant disregard for law and order.
He warned that if no action is taken, the association will be forced to “advise itself.”
“Ralph broke all hospital protocols at the emergency ward and refused to wait his turn. Later, nearly 50 thugs stormed the facility, and about eight, including Ralph, attacked a nurse. She has suffered a dislocated shoulder and is in severe pain,” Dr. Tenkorang said.
He condemned the act as lawless and unacceptable, stressing that the safety of health workers cannot be compromised.
“Are we going to sit in this country and let people take the law into their own hands? If government fails to act within 48 hours, we will advise ourselves,” he cautioned.
The viral video of the confrontation has sparked widespread outrage, with calls mounting for swift investigations and prosecution to deter future attacks on healthcare workers.
