Young entrepreneurs under 35 years old working in Ghana’s creative sector are now eligible for a five-year tax holiday, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has announced.
Following the exemption period, they will pay a reduced tax rate of 15 per cent, or 12.5 per cent if they operate outside district capitals or in rural areas.
Victor Yao Akogo, Chief Revenue Officer of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division at GRA, disclosed the incentive during the 7th edition of Showbiz Roundtable on Joy FM on 6th September 2025.
Themed “GRA Vs. Creatives – Taxation and the Future of Ghana’s Creative & Digital Economy,” the forum brought together GRA officials and creative industry stakeholders to discuss how taxation impacts the growth of the sector.
Akogo explained the incentive to host Kwame Dadzie: “If you are a young entrepreneur in the creative industry and under 35 years old, you are exempted from paying tax for five years. After the exemption, you pay a reduced rate of 15% as corporate or personal income tax. Even if you are located in a rural area or outside a district capital, you pay only 12.5%.”
The relief also extends to young entrepreneurs in tourism, horticulture, plant medicine, and manufacturing. Akogo noted that the scheme is designed to encourage youth participation in business and stimulate job creation across these sectors. Beneficiaries may request an extension of the tax exemption beyond five years.
