President John Dramani Mahama and Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang have expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Ghanaians for the overwhelming support extended in the wake of the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.
The Presidency acknowledged the solidarity shown by traditional leaders, religious groups, civil society, the diplomatic community, political actors, security agencies, and the general public.
The statement noted that the expressions of sympathy, participation in the state funeral, acts of kindness, and assistance to bereaved families offered much-needed comfort during a period of deep national mourning.
Special recognition was also given to individuals and institutions whose efforts ensured a dignified burial for the victims.
Following the conclusion of funeral rites, the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has instructed that national flags be raised back to full mast, symbolising both the resumption of normal duties and the country’s continued remembrance of the departed.
“As we focus again on the task of resetting Ghana and building the nation we desire, let us remain united, offer support to the affected families, and keep the memory of the victims alive. May their souls rest in peace,” the statement concluded.
