Gov’t ready to work with employers to create more jobs – Labour Minister

Government has pledged its readiness to partner with the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) in addressing employment challenges and creating more job opportunities for Ghanaians.

The Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Dr. Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, said government is committed to working with the Association to find practical solutions that will help members overcome bottlenecks in the labour market.

Speaking to Joy Business on the sidelines of the Association’s 65th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra, Dr. Pelpuo stressed that collaboration with the private sector is crucial to expanding decent and sustainable employment.

“Government is prepared to work closely with employers to address the challenges they face and ensure that we create more jobs for our people,” he assured.

Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Employers Association, Alex Frimpong, urged government to prioritise stability of the Ghana cedi, noting that currency fluctuations remain a major concern for businesses, eroding competitiveness and undermining growth.

The 65th AGM brought together captains of industry, policymakers, and labour experts to deliberate on strategies to strengthen the business environment and drive inclusive growth.
