The Board Chairman of the National Council on Persons with Disabilities (National Council on Persons with Disabilities), Mr. Fredrick Assor, has called for patience from unemployed graduates with disabilities who have threatened to embark on a protest on March 24.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, he revealed that engagements are already ongoing to address their concerns.

According to him, a recent meeting was held with officials from the gender sector led by Dr. Agnes Naa Bobo, which included Gilbert Awanyo and his team.

He noted that the minister directed them to compile their concerns for submission to Parliament, indicating that steps are being taken to ensure their needs are addressed.

The Chairman also highlighted some initiatives by government to support persons with disabilities, including the introduction of free tertiary education for qualified individuals.

He added that measures have also been put in place to assist persons with disabilities in accessing education despite challenges.

On the issue of unemployment, he acknowledged that it remains a concern but pointed out that government has not yet commenced large-scale recruitment across sectors, aside from the ongoing security services recruitment.

He therefore urged the group to exercise patience, stressing that government efforts are underway and should be given time to yield results.
