Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Konongo-Odumase Fire Command have rescued two victims who were trapped in a vehicular accident at Asankare along the Accra–Kumasi highway.
According to the GNFS, the command received a distress call reporting a collision involving a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and a Honda tipper truck.
A rescue team led by LFM Siale Richard was immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the officers observed that while 17 victims had already been rescued by members of the public, two passengers remained trapped inside the mangled vehicle.
The firefighters employed dashboard rolling and door removal techniques to safely extricate the victims, who were subsequently transported to the Steward Hospital for medical treatment.

The GNFS noted that the cause of the accident is yet to be determined, but investigations are ongoing.
The Service commended the swift collaboration between the rescue team and members of the public, emphasizing the importance of prompt emergency reporting in saving lives.
