The Member of Parliament for Tano North in the Ahafo Region, Gideon Boako, has begun the reconstruction of the long-neglected Bomaa market in a move aimed at revitalising economic activity in the area.

Speaking to Adom News during the launch of the project, the lawmaker explained that the market had not undergone any major renovation for several years, resulting in its deteriorated condition and a sharp decline in patronage by residents.

According to him, the poor state of the facility has forced many residents, including government workers, to travel to nearby towns such as Tepa, Duayaw Nkwanta and Yamfo to purchase food and other essential items.

The MP noted that the situation has negatively affected the local economy, as residents increasingly rely on markets outside the community instead of supporting local traders.

Traders and community members also highlighted the challenges posed by the market’s condition, explaining that heavy rains often cause flooding and muddy surroundings, which discourage customers from visiting.

Residents, however, expressed appreciation to the MP for initiating the reconstruction project, describing it as a major step toward improving trading conditions and boosting economic activity in the community.
