The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has cautioned the public, especially job seekers, to disregard recruitment adverts circulating on social media, stressing that the service is not undertaking any form of recruitment exercise.
In a statement to the media, the Head of Public Affairs at the GIS, Assistant Commissioner of Immigration (ACI) Michael Amoako-Atta, said the purported adverts are false and intended to defraud unsuspecting applicants.
“We are not recruiting. Any recruitment information circulating on social media, whether protocol or otherwise, is false and misleading. No job applicant should fall prey to such scammers,” ACI Amoako-Atta emphasized.
He revealed that a recent flyer making rounds on social media advertised recruitment into the service at a fee of GHC 350, using the Ghana Commercial Bank as a supposed payment channel.
He described the advert as fraudulent and urged the public to disregard it.
The GIS spokesperson explained that the service only announces official recruitment through the Daily Graphic and the Ghanaian Times newspapers.
He therefore urged the public to treat all other adverts as scams.
“Until you see such an announcement in these two newspapers, kindly ignore every advert you come across on social media. They are the handiwork of fraudsters,” he reiterated.
ACI Amoako-Atta stressed that as of August 29, 2025, the Ghana Immigration Service is not conducting any recruitment exercise.
