President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaian youth that their voices are heard and their potential recognised, underscoring the government’s commitment to providing resources, opportunities, and support to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

Addressing citizens during the 69th Independence Day celebrations on Friday, March 6, at the Presidency, President Mahama acknowledged the unique opportunities available to young people, as well as the challenges they continue to face.

“To the young people of this country, I see you, I hear you, and I believe in your potential. You belong to a generation that is armed with tools and opportunities that earlier generations could hardly have imagined. In your hands, a smartphone transforms into a classroom,” he said.

He further highlighted the transformative power of technology in youth-led business and creative ventures.

“In your hands, a smartphone transforms into a business platform. In your hands, a smartphone transforms into a creative studio and a gateway to the global economy,” President Mahama added.

The President also outlined government initiatives aimed at supporting youth development, including investments in digital infrastructure, entrepreneurship programmes, and innovation hubs in cities such as Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi, Ho, and Koforidua.

“These initiatives are complemented by reforms in education to meet the needs of the modern economy and the expansion of internship and apprenticeship programmes to bridge the gap between school and the world of work,” he said.
