
Houadjeto reaffirmed GTA’s commitment to supporting the Paramount Chief of the Oguaa Traditional Area, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, to ensure a successful festival.
“The Ghana Tourism Authority will continue to assist in hosting dignitaries and to preserve the cultural essence of the festival for future generations,” she added.
Celebrated annually on the first Saturday of September, the Oguaa Fetu Festival, also known as Fetu Afahye, marks the end of a devastating plague in Cape Coast’s history. Today, it remains a vibrant tradition that honors ancestors, fosters unity, and drives economic activity through tourism and trade.
For the people of Cape Coast, the presence of the Olu and Olori of Warri added a special dimension to this year’s festivities, underscoring the power of culture to connect nations.
