The President of the Governing Council of the Ghana Christian University College (GCUC), Reverend Dr. James Yamoah, has advised graduates in counselling and law to uphold strong moral principles and professional ethics, urging them to use their knowledge to strengthen families and communities rather than contribute to social breakdown.

Addressing the 4th graduation ceremony of the University, Rev. Dr. Yamoah highlighted the increasing demand for competent counsellors and effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practitioners in Ghana.

He stressed that national development is closely linked to the quality of human resources, noting that graduates have a crucial role to play in promoting justice, fairness, peace, and social cohesion. “Your ability to resolve conflicts and heal emotional and social wounds will greatly influence Ghana’s development,” he stated.

Held under the theme “Transforming Lives through Justice and Healing: Building Ghana’s Future Leaders of Change in the 21st Century,” the ceremony saw over 100 students graduate with certificates in Counselling and Law.

As part of the event, students who demonstrated academic excellence and commitment were recognized. Awards were presented to Okine Daniel Okoe as Most Performing Student in Certificate in Law, Adjabeng Pearl Emefa as Best Student in Alternative Dispute Resolution, and Abaidoo Jude as Overall Best Performing Student in Law, among others.

The Guest of Honour, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana, Retired Reverend Dr. Colonel Bliss Devine Agbeko, challenged graduates to pursue character-driven leadership.

He cautioned that academic qualifications alone are insufficient without integrity, ethical consistency, and a genuine spirit of service. He called on law graduates to defend justice beyond textbooks and encouraged counsellors to become healers of society’s invisible wounds.

Representing the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo, the Greater Accra Regional NADMO Director reaffirmed government’s commitment to partner with GCUC to train more professionals for national development.
