The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced a temporary traffic management arrangement on the Accra–Madina stretch of the N4 Highway to facilitate ongoing construction works on the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange bridge expansion project.
In a public announcement dated March 5, 2026, the Authority said the measure forms part of the ongoing Accra–Tema Motorway and Extension Project being undertaken on behalf of the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
According to the GHA, the arrangement is necessary to enable T-beam launching works for the expansion of the interchange bridge.
During the construction period, lanes on the N4 northbound carriageway from Accra to Madina will be temporarily closed. The southbound carriageway, which currently consists of four lanes, will be reconfigured into two lanes in each direction to allow traffic to flow between Accra and Madina.
The temporary traffic adjustment will take effect from Monday, March 9, 2026, and is expected to last for four months.
The Authority explained that the lane reduction is intended to create a safe working environment for construction personnel while ensuring the continued safety of road users.
Motorists are therefore advised to exercise caution, observe all traffic signs, and cooperate with traffic management officials throughout the duration of the works.
