The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) has confirmed that a microlight aircraft crashed near a school park in Tema Community One on Monday afternoon, killing the two people on board.
In a statement, the GCAA said the aircraft, registered 9G-ADV, was flying from Ho to Accra and was expected to arrive at 15:20 Zulu time.
“The last contact with the aircraft on radio was at 14:18 Z,” the authority stated. “There were two persons on board.”
The crash occurred at the Oninku Drive School Park at Site 17, close to the TMA Daycare facility.
Thick smoke from the burning aircraft quickly rose into the air, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
