The Volta Regional Police Command has picked up five more suspects in connection with Friday’s shooting at the Ho Central Mosque, raising the total number of arrests so far to 20.

Accra-based Citi News reported that the latest arrests were made on Saturday morning, December 27, as police intensified investigations a day after the incident, which left several worshippers injured and sent shockwaves through the Ho Zongo community.

The shooting occurred on Friday, December 26, during activities around the mosque, prompting an immediate security response and heightened patrols in the area.

According to the Police, the new arrests mark a major step forward in efforts to unravel the circumstances that led to the violence.

Investigators are examining multiple angles, including a long-standing leadership dispute within the mosque, which authorities believe may have contributed to the clash.

The police have assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that all individuals found to be responsible will be held accountable under the law.

Residents have also been urged to remain calm and cooperate fully with security agencies as efforts continue to restore and maintain peace in the area.
