Firefighters rescue two after truck accident at Asukawkaw

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed a prompt emergency response to a road traffic accident involving a Scania truck at Asukawkaw in the Oti Region.

In a post shared on its official Facebook page, the Service said the truck was en route from Benin to Nkawkaw when it was involved in the crash.

Firefighters from the Pai-Katanga Fire Post were swiftly deployed to the scene to control the situation and avert further danger. The timely intervention led to the successful rescue of the driver and his mate.

The rescue operation was led by Sub Officer John Justice Kpego. Upon arrival, the team carried out standard safety procedures after three occupants of the vehicle had already been rescued and transported to the Worawora Government Hospital for medical care.

GNFS personnel also worked to clear the roadway and secure the accident scene to safeguard other road users.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, while the Service reaffirmed its commitment to rapid emergency response and the protection of lives and property nationwide.
