A road traffic accident occurred on the under-construction Accra–Kumasi Bypass at Adasoase on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Firefighters from the Anyinam Fire Station responded swiftly to the incident, which involved a Toyota Tacoma that crashed into an unfinished bridge after mistakenly entering the incomplete roadway. The impact left the vehicle severely damaged.

In a statement, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said a male passenger was trapped in the vehicle and was safely extricated by firefighters before being handed over to the National Ambulance Service for medical attention.

Another person involved in the crash had already been rescued by passers-by before the arrival of emergency personnel.

Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding may have contributed to the accident. The GNFS has since urged motorists to exercise caution, especially around construction zones, to prevent similar incidents.
