A domestic fire has destroyed the ground floor of a residential building at Lapaz Race Course, Awala in Accra.
The incident occurred on March 11, 2026, when a fire broke out in the house and quickly spread across the ground floor, destroying property and household items.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded to the scene after receiving a distress call.
Firefighters from the Anyaa, Industrial Area, Amasaman and Jubilee House fire stations joined efforts to bring the blaze under control.
The fire was eventually contained and prevented from spreading to nearby buildings. Firefighters were able to salvage the first floor of the building as well as an adjoining structure.
Although the ground floor and its contents were completely destroyed, no casualties were recorded.
Authorities say investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.
