A fire outbreak on Saturday, August 23, caused significant damage to a house at Community 1 in Akosombo, Eastern Region, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has confirmed.
According to a statement posted on Facebook, GNFS said its Akosombo Fire Station received an emergency call around 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, August 24, reporting a blaze at a three-bedroom house.
A team led by ADOII Dormah arrived within ten minutes to find the living room and kitchen engulfed in flames. Firefighters battled the fire for nearly an hour and a half, containing it by 2:00 p.m. and completely dousing it by 2:47 p.m.
However, the fire flared up again around 3:45 p.m. in the roof area.
The crew returned promptly, extinguished the remaining flames, and monitored the house until 4:12 p.m. to prevent further recurrence.
The blaze caused total destruction of the living room, while the kitchen and other sections of the house sustained partial damage.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
