The Paramount Chief of Ntotroso and President of the Ahafo Regional House of Chiefs, Barima Twereko Ampem III, has urged traditional leaders to use festivals as platforms to advocate for development and improve the living standards of their communities.

He made the call in Ntotroso during the launch of the 2026 Apomasu Yam Festival, emphasizing that festivals should go beyond celebration and serve as opportunities for chiefs to engage government officials, corporate bodies, and individuals for developmental support.

According to Barima Twereko Ampem III, the Apomasu Yam Festival, celebrated every two years and attracting high-profile personalities, has helped the Ntotroso community secure several development projects following appeals made during the festivities.

He noted that such engagements have led to support from government agencies, corporate bodies, and private individuals to address the community’s needs.

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Asutifi North, Dr. Ebenezer Kwaku Atuahene, and the Ahafo Regional Minister, Charity Gardiner, commended the chief for leveraging the festival to drive development and promote cultural education among the youth.

They highlighted that initiatives arising from the Apomasu Yam Festival have contributed to the establishment of the Ntotroso College of Nursing and Midwifery, now regarded as one of the best in the region, as well as the Twereko Ampem Senior High School.
