Fantes should sue “Fante Comedy” immediately – Political Analyst

Political analyst at the University of Cape Coast (UCC), Dr. Jonathan Asante Otchere, has called on the Fante community to take legal action against TikTok personality Prince Ofori, popularly known as Fante Comedy.

His comments follow the recent arrest of Fante Comedy and NPP activist Daniel Adomako, alias Sir Obama Pokuase.

The two, along with another suspect, were picked up on Tuesday, August 12, over allegations of issuing death threats and spreading false information linked to the August 6 military helicopter crash.

An Accra Circuit Court has granted Fante Comedy bail set at GH¢100,000 with three sureties, two of whom must be gainfully employed.

He has also been ordered to surrender his passport to the police. Despite the bail ruling, he is expected to spend the night in police custody, with the case adjourned to August 25, 2025.

Speaking to Adom News, Dr. Asante argued that the TikTok influencer’s conduct misrepresents the Fante people and damages their image.

“Fantes should call him to order and sue him because he is not promoting Fantes in any way. Rather, he engages in unnecessary things that may make people believe that is how Fantes are, which is not true,” he said.

He further stressed that while Ghana practices democracy, it does not give individuals the right to engage in actions that threaten the country’s peace and democratic values.
