Nations FC have secured a place in the MTN FA Cup quarterfinals after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Swedru All Blacks at the Dr Kwame Kyei Sports Complex on Saturday.

Frederick Nzola opened the scoring before halftime, with Josep Effah doubling the lead in the second half.

Williams Danquah managed a consolation goal for Swedru All Blacks, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Frimpong Manso’s side from advancing to the last eight.

At T&A Park, two-time champions Medeama SC progressed past FC Samartex via a 4-2 penalty shootout after a goalless 90 minutes.

Goalkeeper Felix Kyei proved decisive, both saving a spot-kick and converting the winning penalty, as Medeama continue to strengthen their push for silverware alongside their lead in the Ghana Premier League, where they top the table with 43 points from 21 matches.

Friday’s action saw Division One side Attram De Visser pull off a stunning 4-0 upset against Premier League outfit Eleven Wonders at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex in Tema New Town.

The victory sends the Accra-based team into the quarterfinals and makes them the first second-tier side to reach this stage of the MTN FA Cup this season, following their semifinal appearance last year.

Tamale City, Real Tamale United, and Techiman Liberty Youth now have the chance to join them, with the remaining Round of 16 fixtures set to be completed today across various venues.
