Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko is confident his team can overcome Division One side Attram De Visser Academy and advance to the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup.
The Premier League outfit will face the lower-tier side on Sunday, March 15, at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Attram De Visser has impressed this season, knocking out reigning Ghana Premier League champions Bibiani Gold Stars and securing a win over Eleven Wonders.
Speaking ahead of the match, Tanko expressed optimism about Medeama’s chances.
“No, I think if a supporter comes to the stadium, he’s looking at his team to win so that he will go home very happy. We, the technical team and the players, are the same; we want to win the game,” he told Medi TV.
Acknowledging the team’s recent poor performance, Tanko stressed that setbacks should not overshadow the joy the squad has brought fans throughout the season.
“As I said, we had a very bad day looking at how the game went.
“But this team has also given the supporters a lot of happiness. I don’t think this is the time they have to abandon the team.”
The coach added that the technical team is already working to correct the squad’s weaknesses ahead of the cup tie.
“We still have nine games to play, and the next is the MTN FA Cup. So we are preparing for that and hope that we’ll go to the next one.”
Kick-off is set for 19:00 GMT.
