The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has announced plans to commence the certification and registration of Environmental Management Practitioners in Ghana, in line with the Environmental Protection Act, 2025 (Act 1124).
In a public notice issued on January 6, 2026, the EPA stated that the new law mandates the Authority to regulate, certify, and register individuals and firms providing environmental management services in the country.
The process will involve certifying qualified practitioners and maintaining an official register of approved environmental practitioners. This register will be published on the EPA’s website and in the Environmental Bulletin established under the Act.
The Authority further noted that it has the power to monitor environmental management systems to ensure compliance by regulated entities and practitioners.
The notice serves as an advance alert to stakeholders ahead of the rollout of certification and registration requirements. The EPA said details regarding training dates, application procedures, and guidelines will be provided in due course.
Environmental practitioners and stakeholders have been urged to take note of the development and make necessary preparations.
