Minister for Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has commended the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for its outstanding performance, revealing that the agency has recovered GH₵337.4 million—well above its 2025 target of GH₵200 million.
Speaking to the press on Thursday, December 18, Dr. Ayine credited EOCO’s success to strong institutional leadership, stressing that effective leadership is critical to the success of government agencies.
“EOCO has exceeded its 2025 target, which was set at 200 million. Recoveries currently stand at 337.4 million. This figure means it has surpassed its 2025 target by over 133.4 million, the highest in the agency’s history,” he stated.
Dr. Ayine also disclosed that EOCO recovered USD 15.191 million from a fraudulent Malaysian company involved in offshore cryptocurrency scams.
He noted that part of these funds will compensate victims, while the majority will be transferred to the public treasury.
“Some of that money will go to pay victims who were defrauded, but a greater portion will be retained and paid into the public kitty,” he added.
