The Birim North Municipal Director of Education, Solomon Azubila, has raised alarm over growing cases of student indiscipline, warning that indecent social media behaviour and attacks on teachers and fellow students are eroding discipline and threatening the moral fabric of schools.

He made the remarks during a ceremony where Reverend Sampson Adonu, a Ghanaian philanthropist and minister of the Presbyterian Grace Congregation in West Haven, Connecticut, donated more than 800 school uniforms to pupils of Akyem Nkronang and Asawase Basic Schools in the Eastern Region.

Mr. Azubila used the opportunity to caution students against abusing social media platforms, stressing that inappropriate online conduct and acts of violence in schools could have long-term consequences on their future and society at large.

He called on government, parents, teachers and other stakeholders to work together to restore discipline in schools, emphasizing that maintaining order and respect is essential for effective teaching and learning.

“Discipline remains the foundation of quality education. Without it, the school environment becomes unsafe and unconducive for both teachers and students,” he noted.

The Municipal Director also expressed gratitude to Reverend Adonu for the timely intervention, describing the donation as a major relief for many pupils who struggle to attend school due to lack of proper uniforms.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the donor, Samuel Puni Nyarko said the gesture was aimed at supporting education in underserved communities and motivating pupils to remain focused on their academic goals.

He encouraged students to take their education seriously and urged teachers to continue their dedication to shaping the next generation of leaders.

The donation is expected to improve school attendance, boost the confidence of beneficiaries, and support efforts to promote quality education in the Birim North Municipality.
