DVLA suspends road fines issued by compliance team

-

The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has announced the suspension of all fines imposed by its Compliance Team on roads across the country, effective Wednesday, October 15, 2025, until further notice.

The decision follows weeks of intensified enforcement by the Compliance Team to ensure that all drivers and vehicles meet Ghana’s road safety and regulatory standards.

However, the DVLA says the suspension is to allow for broader stakeholder consultations and public education following feedback from motorists and the general public.

In a statement dated October 14, the Authority explained that the suspension applies only to the enforcement of fees and charges by the Compliance Team, not to the legal obligations of drivers and vehicle owners.

“The suspension relates specifically to the fees and charges that were being enforced by the Compliance Team,” the statement read.

“It does not suspend the legal requirements for drivers and vehicles to operate on Ghana’s roads.”

The DVLA reaffirmed its commitment to road safety and stated that the temporary pause would provide room for further dialogue before the initiative is reintroduced.

The Authority also reminded all motorists to comply with existing road safety laws and licensing regulations.
