
A driver of a Howo Tipper Truck narrowly escaped death on Monday morning after his vehicle veered off the Tema–Akosombo Highway and rammed into a tree at Adelekope.
The crash, which occurred around 6:30 a.m., left the driver trapped inside the mangled truck.
A rescue team from the Kpong Fire Station responded swiftly to a distress call and arrived at the scene within minutes. Using heavy-duty extrication equipment, firefighters managed to free the driver, who was handed over to the National Ambulance Service and rushed to the Akuse Government Hospital for treatment.
The incident drew dozens of motorists and residents, who looked on as emergency workers battled to save the victim.
Fortunately, no additional casualties were recorded.
Police have since launched investigations into the cause of the crash, while the wreckage was later towed away to restore traffic flow.
