DJ Sly King has ascended to the pinnacle of Ghana’s disc jockeying landscape after winning the ultimate honour of the night at the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff.

He walked away with the coveted DJ of the Year crown at the Palms Convention Center on November 29, 2025. The victory marks a defining milestone in his career, as he entered the 13th edition of the awards, themed Shake the Floor, with strong expectations of clinching the topmost prize.
The new king revealed that he had “been putting in so much work in the year under review” and was confident about ending DJ Lord OTB’s two-year reign. He emerged victorious in a highly competitive category that included AD DJ, DJ Millzy, TMSKDJ, DJ Vyrusky and DJ Loft.
As part of his prize package, DJ Sly King received a brand-new Pioneer DJ DDJ-Rev7 Scratch Style 2 Controller, presented by Marketing and Innovations Director at Guinness Ghana, Madam Sabina Manu. He was also nominated in seven other categories on a night dedicated to celebrating excellence and evolution within the DJ fraternity in Ghana and beyond.
Industry colleagues and fans expressed excitement over his triumph, citing his technical mastery and growing influence on the music scene within the 2024/2025 year.
The 2025 edition of the awards featured electrifying performances and expertly curated sets from Medikal, Fameye, Keche and Lali x Lola. Founder of the awards, Merqury Quaye — often referred to as “father of all DJs” — also took his turn on the decks, delivering a thrilling performance that electrified the auditorium. DJ Sonaty and the night’s resident DJ, DJ Pho, also delivered standout sets that drew loud cheers from patrons.
Organized by Merqury Republic, the 2025 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards, powered by Smirnoff, once again underscored its mission to honour DJs who continue to shape and define the nation’s soundscape.
