Former Central Regional Minister, Prof. Kojo Yankah, has urged chiefs and opinion leaders in the region to ensure that children have access to the top-class secondary and tertiary institutions in the area, rather than merely boasting about their presence.
Speaking as the guest speaker at the opening of the Central Expo 2025 under the theme “Unlocking Opportunities in the Central Region,” Prof. Yankah highlighted that too many children in the region continue to drop out of school despite the availability of first-class educational facilities.
He called for collective action and resource mobilization to address school dropouts and ensure that young people from the region benefit fully from its educational opportunities.
Prof. Yankah, who initiated the first Central Expo in 1998 to showcase the region’s tourism and economic potential, emphasized that true development must prioritize education as the foundation for future growth.
Representing the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Cynthia Dzokoto, the Director in charge of MSMEs, underscored the government’s commitment to a 24-hour economy and urged the region to adopt round-the-clock tourism services at attractions such as the castles.
She also reiterated the government’s support for the Made-in-Ghana agenda, assuring that national procurement and consumption will continue to prioritize locally produced goods and services to create sustainable markets and jobs.
