The Ghana Italian Women Association (GIWA) and Miniplast Limited have extended support to residents of the Sanyeri community in the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba District of the Savannah Region, who were affected by the recent Gbenyiri conflict.

The conflict, which erupted recently, displaced over 50,000 people and reportedly claimed 31 lives.

As part of ongoing relief efforts led by the Boresah Royal Foundation, Miniplast Limited donated plastic chairs, while GIWA provided clothing items to assist victims of the tragedy.

The donations are aimed at meeting the immediate needs of affected families, helping restore dignity and comfort as they rebuild their lives. They will also enable the community to convene meetings and plan their recovery.

“We are deeply grateful to Miniplast Limited and GIWA for their generosity and support,” said Queen Boresah Fantevie, Executive Director of the Boresah Royal Foundation and Nkilgiwurche (Queenmother) of the Yagbon (Gonja) Kingdom. “Their contributions will go a long way toward easing the suffering of the people of Sanyeri.”

The Boresah Royal Foundation reiterated its commitment to promoting peace and improving the well-being of women and children.

“We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the people of Sanyeri receive the necessary support to recover from this tragic event,” Queen Boresah added.

President of GIWA, Rosaria Baldi, expressed appreciation for the partnership with the foundation.

“We are dedicated to empowering women and fostering peace and development in Ghana. We thank Miniplast Limited for their support and look forward to further collaborations,” she stated.

CEO of Miniplast Limited, Nadim Ghanem Parés, reaffirmed his company’s dedication to community support.

“We are happy to stand with the people of Sanyeri in this difficult time. At Miniplast, giving back to society is at the heart of what we do, and we remain committed to making a positive impact in Ghana,” he said.

A resident and conflict survivor, Abiba Amadu, expressed gratitude for the assistance. “This has never happened before; we’re thankful to the foundation, and, like Oliver Twist, we will always ask for more. These donations will help us come together and hold community meetings in these trying times,” she said.

Bakari Abdul-Aziz, Assemblyman for the Sanyeri Electoral Area, who received the items on behalf of the community, also expressed appreciation.

“We are grateful to Miniplast Limited, GIWA, and the Boresah Royal Foundation for their timely intervention. These donations will significantly support our community’s recovery efforts,” he noted.

The Boresah Royal Foundation and its partners have called on other organisations and individuals to support the people of Sanyeri.

Those interested in contributing can contact the foundation’s secretariat for more information.
