Former Ghana international Quincy Owusu-Abeyie has expressed strong confidence in the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The four-time African champions are set to compete in the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Ghana has been drawn in Group L alongside England, 2018 finalists Croatia, and Panama.
“Don’t worry, the Black Stars will perform at the 2026 World Cup,” Owusu-Abeyie, who made 18 appearances, told Adom FM’s Nana Osei Ampofo Adjei in the Netherlands.
Ghana will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and close the group stage against Croatia on June 27.
This marks the nation’s fifth World Cup appearance, following tournaments in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022. Their best showing came in 2010, when they reached the quarterfinals.
In preparation for the global event, the Ghana Football Association has arranged four high-profile friendlies.
The build-up begins on March 27 with a clash against Austria at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium, followed by a trip to Stuttgart to face Germany at the MHP Arena on March 30.
Head coach Otto Addo will then lead the team in a warm-up match against Mexico in May before concluding preparations with a historic first encounter against Wales on June 2 at Cardiff City Stadium.
The Black Stars enter the tournament determined to make a mark and build on their previous World Cup successes.
