Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has pledged full transparency regarding the budget for Ghana’s Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana will be making its fifth appearance at the global tournament, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Adams said the government will publicly disclose the World Cup budget, just as it did for the Black Stars’ World Cup qualifier matches, despite earlier criticism from sections of the football community.

“We will make the World Cup budget public; nothing will be hidden,” the Member of Parliament for the Buem Constituency stated.

He stressed that the government has no intention of profiting from the team’s participation. “This is not about making money. It is about giving Ghana what it deserves,” he added.

Adams further explained that the number of supporters who will travel to support the Black Stars at the tournament will depend on resources mobilised through the Sports Fund.

“The funds we are able to raise will determine how many fans we can take to the World Cup,” he said.

The Black Stars have been drawn into Group L and will open their campaign against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, before facing England in Boston and wrapping up the group stage against Croatia on June 27 in Philadelphia.
