Black Starlets head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has expressed confidence that his side can overcome Ivory Coast in future clashes, following their narrow defeat in the WAFU B U-17 Championship final in Yamoussoukro.
Ghana’s U-17 team fell 4-3 in a penalty shootout to the Ivorians after having lost 3-0 to the same opponents in their second group stage match.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, the former Asante Kotoko manager acknowledged football’s unpredictability but insisted that the Black Starlets have what it takes to reverse their fortunes.
“Anytime we face Ivory Coast again, we will beat them. Sometimes in football, you cannot predict,” Narteh Ogum said.
“We can study them well and beat them next time, and they can also study us and beat us again, but as a coach, I can confidently say we will beat Ivory Coast if we meet for the third time,” he added.
Despite the final setback, the Black Starlets have secured qualification for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to be hosted in Morocco next year.
