The Ghana Black Queens will continue competing in the ongoing Pink Ladies Cup in the United Arab Emirates despite escalating regional tensions, the team’s Media Officer, Matilda Dimedo, has confirmed.

The unrest disrupted their training schedule following a 4-0 victory over Hong Kong in their opening match on Saturday.

Dimedo told Joy Sports that the squad remains in regular contact with tournament organisers and Ghana’s Consulate in the UAE.

Officials from Ghana’s diplomatic mission visited the team on Monday morning, providing assurances of government support and safety.

Although initial security concerns temporarily restricted access to the training pitch, the players have stayed active through indoor gym sessions to maintain fitness.

Dimedo said the team hopes to return to full on-pitch training later Monday in preparation for their second match against Russia. She added that the situation on the ground has improved significantly since yesterday, when smoke was visible across the skyline, and local activities have largely returned to normal, easing anxiety within the Ghanaian camp.

The team’s continued participation in the tournament depends on the status of regional airspace. Dimedo explained that their departure plan is flexible: if the airspace is cleared before their final match against Tanzania, the team may leave early; otherwise, they will complete the tournament and wait for a safe window to depart.

The Black Queens are using the friendly competition as key preparation for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Following the Pink Ladies Cup, the squad will face Ivory Coast in their final warm-up match before WAFCON kicks off later this month.
